Malaysia is federal constitiutional monarchy in Southeast Asia . It consists of 13 states and three federal territories . Malaysia received its indepedence on 31st August 1957 . Its First Prime MInister was Tunku Abdul Rahman . Malaysia gained its independence from the British . Malaysia is also first in badminton and squash in the form of Lee Chong Wei and Nicol Ann David .The Yang di-Pertuan Agung is chosen every five years fromt= the hereditory rulers of the nine Malay States every five years . Malaysai is also considred a megadiverse country . Its slogan is ' 1 Malaysia ' was created by Tun Seri Najib , the current Prime Minister . Malaysia is the 66th largest country in the world with a land area of 329,487 kilometres(127,355 sq mi) . Malaysia is also home to the largest flower in the world , the Rafflesia . As of the 2010 census, the population of Malaysia was 28,334,135, making it the 43rd most populated country in the world .

^ a. Kuala Lumpur is the capital city and is home to the legislative branch of the Federal government. Putrajaya is the primary seat of the federal government where the executive and judicial branches are located.

^ b. The current terminology as per government policy is Bahasa Malaysia(literally Malaysian language)[11] but legislation continues to refer to the official language as Bahasa Melayu (literally Malay language).

^ c. Under the National Language Act 1967: "The script of the national language shall be the Rumi [Latin] script: provided that this shall not prohibit the use of the Malay script, more commonly known as the Jawi script, of the national language."[12]
